In the category of "What the Hell?!?!" - my ex-wife emailed my Mom some pictures; said pictures are of the ex, her new beau, and his kid showing their Halloween antics. Now, as I've mentioned before, this just seems wrong to me. It has an overwhelming sense of "Hey look at me, I can be happy without your son, see, look at me, look at me! I have a new guy, and he has a kid, which means I have a kid! Look at me!"
I suppose this wouldn't be as inane if she and Mom were ever really close, but they weren't. This isn't to say that my Mom was openly hostile to her (well, any more than she usually is to everyone. Face it Mom, you're...well...hostile. Don't look at me like that. Put your claws away, and why are your eyes shooting flames like that?), they just weren't close. Dad didn't like her at all, and in hindsight, pretty much every complaint he had against her was true, though I was blind to that at the time. Had Dad lived to see the divorce, I would still be hearing "I told you so" to this day, and I don't think his pleasure in saying it would diminish with time in the least. He's the only guy I've ever known that delighted in being right more than I do.
In any event, again, is it just me, or is her continued affiliation with my family just a touch wrong?
